        10月11-15日，《生物多样性公约》第十五次缔约方大会（CBD COP15）在云南昆明顺利召开，这是联合国首次以生态文明为主题召开的全球性会议。大会以“生态文明：共建地球生命共同体”为主题，旨在倡导推进全球生态文明建设。12日，中国国家主席习近平以视频方式出席大会并发表了题为《共同构建地球生命共同体》的主旨讲话。

        气候变化、生物多样性等生态文明难题，是全世界利益相关、全人类祸福与共的重要全球治理议题，也是清华大学和娱乐场 长期关注并不断耕耘的领域之一，历届苏世民学者中有众多全球生态问题的关注者、研究者和从业者。本次大会，有多位长期关注气候变化、绿色发展和生态文明领域的苏世民学者受邀参加并发言。其中，2021级苏世民学者Ava Waitz受邀作为国际学生代表参与宣读《碳中和目标下应对气候变化与保护生物多样性青年宣言》。2021级学者李靖亚（Alexander Li）和2020级学者陈紫楠共同参加主题为“国际青年眼中的环保与节能减排”讨论。他们作为国际舞台上一支特殊的青年力量，成为世界与中国沟通对话的良好桥梁，也成为中外合作推进全球生态治理的探索者、先行者和引领者。

        本次参会，是苏世民学者在促进中国与世界融合、共建全球生态文明中的众多尝试之一，我们希望借此打动、影响、号召更多青年学子，关注生态议题、加入环保行动，做全球生态文明建设的敢于发声者、主动担当者和共同行动者！

下面一起看看来自一线的三位同学新鲜出炉的参会体验。

        I am passionate about addressing climate change. As an undergraduate I studied Materials Science and Engineering because of the many ways it can be used to work on renewable energy and sustainable products. In the future I hope to use this discipline to work with other passionate people towards a more sustainable future! Although I come from an engineering background, I know the only way to address such a large issue is through international collaboration. Participating in COP15 was a very exciting opportunity to be involved in this international biodiversity and climate dialogue. It also offered me the opportunity to connect with many Tsinghua students who are similarly passionate about the environment, so on a personal level it was also the beginning of my own international collaboration on climate change.

        我对解决气候变化问题充满热情。我本科时的专业是材料科学与工程，因为它有很多方法可以用来研究可再生能源和可持续产品。将来，我希望利用这一学科，与其他对此充满热情的人一起，走向一个更可持续的未来！虽然我是工科背景，但我知道要解决如此大的问题，唯一方法是通过国际合作。参加COP15是一个非常令人兴奋的机会，使我可以参与到这一有关国际生物多样性和气候的对话中。这也让我有机会与许多同样热爱环境的清华学生建立联系。因此，就我个人而言，这也是我自己在气候变化问题上进行国际合作的开始。

        I am very grateful for the opportunity offered to me to participate. I think the passion, curiosity, and collaboration of youth is a very important force for the future of our environment.I think it was a particularly powerful signal to have students from the US and China read the statement together since our two countries have some of the biggest roles to play in mitigating climate change.I hope that it is a critical issue where the two countries can come together to take action. Being able to participate in delivering that message was very meaningful to me.

        我非常感谢能有这次参与的机会。我认为青年的热情、好奇心和协作是我们未来环境领域非常重要的力量。我认为此次让美国和中国的学生一起阅读这份声明是一个特别有力的信号，因为我们两国在减缓气候变化方面可以发挥重要的作用。我希望这是两国能够共同采取行动的关键议题。而能够参与传递这一信息对我来说很有意义。

        I participated in COP15 because I understand that environmental issues like climate change and biodiversity are global issues, so they need to be addressed with international cooperation. I wanted to understand how the UN helps countries work together, and help contribute to collaboration. I was involved in a panel discussion about youth perspectives on climate change. The current youth generation will be the most affected by environmental issues, so I think youth perspectives on these issues are especially important. I am incredibly honored to have this opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences at the UN. For me it was a great learning opportunity.  I challenged myself by speaking at my first conference in Chinese. And I got to hear inspiring ideas from the other panelists.

        我参加COP15是因为我知道气候变化和生物多样性等环境问题是全球性问题，需要通过国际合作加以解决。我想了解联合国如何把各国聚到一起，并帮助促进合作。我参与了关于青年对气候变化看法的小组讨论。现在的青年一代将是受环境问题影响最大的一代，因此我认为青年对这些问题的看法尤为重要。我很荣幸有机会在联合国分享我的想法和经验。对我来说，这是一个很好的学习机会。我第一次用中文在会议上发言，这是对我的挑战。同时，我也从其他小组成员那里听到了鼓舞人心的想法。

       参与完这次大会，我感触最深的一点在于，生物多样性、环境保护等问题不止是生物学家、动物保护学家的责任，其实各个行业的人都可以为此做出努力。最好的结果并不是把每一个人都带到环保圈来，而是把环保带到每一个人那里去。

        碳中和目标下应对气候变化与保护生物多样性青年宣言

        Climate change and reduced biodiversity is the realistic, urgent, and impending threat and challenge for all the mankind. Biodiversity is the foundation of human survival and development. In the development of ecological civilization, addressing climate change and biodiversity protection create an important synergy which bears on the very future of our Planet Earth. In the face of the climate crisis, mankind shares a common future where only cooperation can achieve win-win situations. Against this backdrop, youth cooperation is of vital importance.

        气候变化与生物多样性丧失是人类生存和发展面临的现实、紧迫、严峻的威胁与挑战。两者同时应对，可以发挥重要的协同作用，关系着我们地球家园的未来。危机面前，人类命运与共，合作才能共赢。在此背景下，青年合作至关重要。

        Youth generations are a major force in addressing climate change, and also a force representing the future. Youths from all walks of life are taking actions to address climate change and protect biodiversity wherever they are in the world. At this critical juncture where history is about to be made, we embrace a shared vision—to build a future where man and nature share a community of life and a beautiful world where all life coexists in harmony. To this end, as young generations, we declare that:

        青年一代是应对气候变化的重要力量，是一支代表未来的力量。青年人将在世界各地、在各行各业为应对气候变化、保护生物多样性做出行动。站在此时此刻、站在未来历史的起点，我们拥有着共同的愿景——为人与自然命运共同体的未来，共建万物和谐的美丽世界。为此我们宣言：

        Be better implementors. Cultivate green and low-carbon awareness and practice the concept of responsible consumption. Save energy, reduce waste, and choose green travelling. Refrain from purchasing endangered wildlife and related products, and pursue the use of highly sustainable and durable products.

        成为更好的行动者。培养绿色低碳意识，践行负责任消费理念。节约能源、减少浪费，选择绿色出行方式。拒绝购买濒危野生动植物及其制品，追求使用可持续性高、耐久度高的产品。

        Be better sharers. Actively share the experience of green and low-carbon actions in life with family, friends, and classmates. Be good at using social platforms to spread green and low-carbon knowledge.

        成为更好的传播者。积极向家人、朋友、同学分享生活中的绿色低碳行动经验。善于利用社交平台传播绿色低碳知识。

        Be better researchers. Correctly understand the challenges posed by the climate crisis and biodiversity loss, and fully realize the synergistic value of Nature-based Solutions. Use scientific research outcomes to provide technical and policy support for addressing climate change and protecting biodiversity.

        成为更好的研究者。正确认识气候危机和生物多样性丧失带来的挑战，充分认识到基于自然的解决方案的协同价值。利用科学研究成果为应对气候变化和保护生物多样性提供技术与政策支撑。

        Be better promoters. Be more thoughtful and responsible. Develop youth-centered cooperation platforms or projects for ecological conservation. Contribute innovative solutions to global climate governance and biodiversity international cooperation with a positive and rational attitude.

        成为更好的倡导者。有思考、有担当，积极推动以青年人为核心的合作平台或项目，以积极、理性的姿态为全球气候治理和生物多样性国际合作贡献创新的解决方案。

        History entrusts us with missions, and our times require responsibility. Young generations are obligated to build a community with a shared future for man and nature. As the backbone of building a zero-carbon future, we will start from ourselves, act positively, mobilize all stakeholders to participate, boost scientific research and innovation, promote international cooperation, and strive to jointly build a community of life on earth and jointly build a clean and beautiful world!

        历史赋予使命，时代要求担当。建设人与自然命运共同体是青年义不容辞的使命。作为实现零碳未来的中坚力量，我们将从自身做起，积极采取行动，动员各方参与，推动科研创新，促进国际合作，努力为共同构建地球生命共同体，共同建设清洁美丽的世界贡献力量！
